Tiara Ashley attended Millikin University in Decatur, IL where she obtained her Bachelor of Music in Music Business. It was during her academic career at Millikin University that she began working at Kirkland Fine Arts Center, a 2,000 seat performance venue that offered a variety of large scale live performances, for the university and community members. It was during her employment at Kirkland Fine Arts Center that she began to gain a true appreciation for the event management industry. She was exposed to box office and ticket transaction processes, scheduling staff members for upcoming events, in addition to overseeing and managing the front of house operations on the night of an event.
After her graduation from Millikin University she moved to Chicago, IL where she volunteered her time working as a Event Coordinator. The first organization, No Stigmas, was a non-profit mental health awareness organization that strives to promote health, awareness and offer health services to the community. No Stigmas was planning their annual "Celebrate Life" event at the Nature Museum. At No Stigmas, she took part in obtaining quotes of food and beverage options from catering companies, securing multiple health and wellness vendors, as well as assisting with the event set-up process.
Following this event, Tiara Ashley continued to volunteer at the In Her Shoes Foundation (IHSF) in Chicago, IL. It was there that this organization's mission was to inspire, educate, connect and empower women of all ages to be their personal best. This opportunity was particularly impactful because she strongly identified with this organization's mission and vision. It was during her venture with IHSF that she began working as one of the lead Development Coordinator, Events for their annual Fundraising Gala. She took part in securing vendors that included: 2 professional photographers, an entertainment agency, and a live professional painter. She also oversaw volunteers to help assist with the event logistics, promoting the event through social media sources, working with the marketing department on promotional material, managing the guest reservations list, along with keeping track of dinner selections for catering. Furthermore, she volunteered her time at IHSF's STEM Panel and Networking event. She was successful in securing 2 panelists, which included 1 Mathematician in the mathematics category and 1 Director, Medical Affairs in the Scientific category. This event was created to bring awareness, provide an opportunity to learn, and help women in the community understand the importance and impactfulness of women in a STEM career.
In April 2018, Tiara Ashley moved to New York City where she began working at We Are Women Owned helping to create retail pop-up events of women-owned businesses. She was most recently involved in various tasks that include: reviewing vendor applications, reviewing the visual set up of vendors in the venue space, taking and placing lunch orders, confirming rental tables as well as aiding with the set up of decor at the Artist and Fleas event space.
